Just hanging out at school

We have 4 Masai security guards (askari) at school and 3 from other tribes around the area. In this region it's as though there are 2 groups of people; the Maasai (different spelling according to whether you are talking about a person or the tribe) is one group and all other tribes are the other group. Everyone gets along very well so it's OK.

This is Kabuti, one of the Masai askari, teaching me Kiswahili as he is on gate watch.
This is Lucamai, another Masai askari, teaching me Kiswahili as he sits outside the office building (this was the first building at the school, hence the Aussie pictures on the wall). Lucamai next to one of the water stands. These buckets are filled daily with boiled drinking water for all the children, there are about 5 cups on top of each one for use by all. So, the water's clean but the cups are not!
This is Simon with Matt just before Matt left. Simon is a fundi (a tradesman) at St Judes and most afternoons all the fundis play soccer on the field after work. Matt nearly always played with them so he earned the name 'Football Mzungu' (mzungu meaning white person). Simon and Matt were great buddies and Matt always found it funny the way Simon often rolls his eyes when amused.Again, outside our local bar on Matt's very last afternoon.
We all just love this sign... that's Jacob, Janet, Matt and Paul as a last stop before taking Matt to the airport. Matt was like my brother here and kept me laughing and happy most times I needed it. We used to chat about all the crazy problems here and commiserate together. I miss him already.
