A Pillow through the Window!

Today I went shopping for art supplies to suss out prices, availability and where to find it all. There are a few materials I'm surprised to find and now I think it would be better to get money to buy it rather than sending stuff from Australia... I've had a few emails about the cost of posting and it may work better a different way.
I went with a couple who are just here for 2 weeks from Adelaide, Anita and Andrew. Anita teaches at Walford Girls School and is trying to set up links with the sponsors from her school and the children here. Some of the girls may travel here for the experience and she's sussing it all out.
So, Walford has given money specially for the art materials so the 3 of us plus another new teacher here (Sherryn) went to town. I wrote down the prices and sizes and now I'll put together some sort of spreadsheet for a budget. I'd love to spend it all at once but there is another art teacher coming soon and I'd like to wait and work together.
I was in a terrific mood about the money gift and then to have company to help me find the materials, then to actually find some!!! It was a great start to the day. It only got better as we found a really cheap patisserie with great pastries, passionfruit juice and Indian food... we feasted!
One of the school bus drivers took us in his bus and waited while we walked around, then he drove us to the hardware shop on the other side of town (we gave him 2 ice creams for all his patient waiting). While we were in traffic at one stage, one of the wandering street sellers approached the bus windows to press us to buy his wares. This happens all the time, a lot of jewellery, beading, artwork etc is thrust at the windows plus just beggars in general. Sometimes you just have to close the window to get rid of them... that doesn't always work either.
Anyway, he was selling window blinds (yes, he was carrying them around the street over one shoulder) and pillows. He had 10 or so new pillows in their wrappers all tied up over the other shoulder. I really did want a pillow as the one I was given to use is half a pillow too long and then too skinny and horribly lumpy. I also don't know how many people have had the pillow before me... it is rather brown looking.
So, his price was 7000 schillings (about $7 USA) so I said 3000, he said 6 and I bought it for 5000 as the traffic was starting to move. I was so excited to buy a new pillow through the window of a bus!!!
I had such a great day that when I got back I had to use the pillow straight away for a 30 min nap... I like it.
